Dane County Trash Lab
Dane Country Department of Waste and Renewables
National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium | June 26
Dubuque Main Street, Farmer’s Market | June 27
About the Trash Lab: Created by the Dane County Department of Waste & Renewables in collaboration with Madison Children’s Museum, the Trash Lab is a mobile exhibit designed to educate and motivate us to create less trash and rethink our relationship with waste.
Housed in a 27-foot-long repurposed cargo trailer, the Trash Lab features playful interactive stations that encourage visitors of all ages to rethink our relationship with waste, protect our environment and redesign our production and waste systems. Visitors to the Trash Lab can connect with information about Dane County’s landfill design, recycling and renewable energy programs and explore the social justice, economic, and environmental effects of waste, connecting our local Southern Wisconsin experiences to global communities. Trash Lab will help individuals better understand the implications of the waste they produce, how landfills work, and new opportunities for more sustainable solutions.
