National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium | June 26

Focus: soil health, conservation, and its vital role in the ecosystem. This programs will provide an all-ages immersive experience showcasing 3D soil profiles, underground organisms, and the impact of human activity on soil.

Key learning includes:

  • Soil Structure and Composition: Learn about soil horizons, texture (sand, silt, clay), and the presence of organic matter.
  • Soil Biology: Highlights the role of underground organisms like worms, microbes, and roots in creating healthy soil.
  • Conservation and Sustainability: Emphasizes practices to protect soil, such as minimizing disturbance, covering soil, and promoting biodiversity.
  • Environmental Impact: How soil filters water, supports food production, and plays a role in carbon cycling.
  • Human Connection: Connects daily human activity, such as farming and land use, to the long-term health of the soil.
