Patricia M. Bombard, BVM, D.Min.
June 26 | National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium | 2 – 5
Presentation Summary: Meeting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will require more than our science and technology. This presentation will explore climate change through a fresh and urgently needed lens: the inner life of each one of us. The Inner Work of Climate Change: Rethinking Education for a Thriving Earth weaves together insights on ego, ecological values, education, and cultural transformation to reveal that the climate crisis is not only a scientific or political challenge, but also a crisis of human consciousness and learned behaviors. Moving from diagnosis to possibility, the presentation traces how patterns of disconnection, domination, and overconsumption are rooted in the human ego—and how education can become a transformative force for healing our relationship with one another and our Earth home. Participants will leave with a deeper understanding of the roots of climate change, and a renewed sense of responsibility, agency, and hope for creating a thriving future.
