Earth’s Birth Story: A Contemplative Journey Through the Epic of Evolution to Today

Project Summary: This embodied, meditative, ritual telling of Earth’s birth will illustrate the 13.8 billion-year scientific story of the Universe’s evolution, culminating in our lifting up with reverence the elements chosen for the themes of the Dubuque Rendezvous days (Air, Water, Earth, and Fire) and the emergence from them of Earth’s Community of Life and our own birth stories. The ritual is adapted from original creative work of Sr. Miriam MacGillis, OP, known as “The Cosmic Walk.” Presented by Patricia M. Bombard, BVM, and Mary Jo McDermott.
